Dream Center announces how each of it's 3 Pillars will be impacted by the new community center being built in Splendora, TX.
To see everyone experience Hope, Healing and Freedom.
Construction continues on our brand new Community Center located in East Montgomery
County. The building is a tool to help the ministry continue to grow in our three key areas of
ministry. We call them our three pillars
Here is our vision of how the new Community Center will impact the Community.
Pillar #1. Reaching Women and Children
While we continue to provide much needed housing for the Women, At-Risk Teens and Children who commit to our one-year discipleship program. The Dream Center is a place where they attend classes for Anger Management, Parenting, Life Skills, Financial Management, Office/Computer Skills, Career/Trade Skills, Cooking Classes, Nutrition Classes and even get their GED from outside experts. All free of charge.
Pillar #2. Feeding the Hungry
Montgomery County is experiencing unprecedented abundance and growth, making it all the more shocking that there are so many families in our community who are struggling without food. Furthermore, there are thousands of elderly, adults and children who must make a choice to go hungry or consume cheaper low-nutrition foods simply to survive. Here at the Dream Center we believe that no one should go to bed hungry. Through our Care & Share food pantry we currently serve over 35,000 meals on average monthly. Our goal for the new Community Center will have over 2,000 square feet dedicated exclusively to storing food. This means we will be able to provide food more often. Also, in our new building, we are including refrigerators and freezers so we will be able to keep and maintain food. This means being able to provide even a greater variety of food. Not only that, having this storage space will increase the efficiency of our distribution so more people can be reached.
Pillar #3. Mentoring At-Risk Youth
We are seeing many lives impacted through our Adopt A Block Outreach and our Women,
Children’s and At-Risk Youth programs. In addition to offering classes for the youth, we see our
outdoor facilities being used for sports and other activities. We want to have a safe place where
parents can drop off their children and where young people can find encouragement, value and
purpose. Currently, we work with six public school Districts in the area through this program.
We see that number growing as we envision buses bringing children from schools to our site.
We will continue to partner with counselors and teachers to provide our after School Tutoring,
Mentorship, Trade School, Parenting Classes, Life Skills, Drivers Ed, Financial Skills, Resume
Writing, and Careers Classes. We believe this is where the negative generational cycle is broken.
Together, we can reach the next generation!
