A Safe Place to Find Healing

I came to H-town Dream Center after fleeing a physically and mentally abusive ex-spouse. I was ten months pregnant and tired of falling into a vicious cycle of reconciling with my partner, only to get trapped in another string of violent attacks. My self-esteem and sense of self-worth were completely shattered.

Going to the Dream Center made so much sense because I needed a safe place to prepare for the delivery of my child.

I entered the discipleship program with my kids, where we attended church regularly and received the holistic support we needed to thrive. I received biblical instruction from a phenomenal group of volunteer teachers who loved us as we had never been before.

Through the Dream Center and other partner ministries, I was also able to fulfill my passion for domestic missionary work by helping to distribute free meals, clothing, and personal items daily to the less fortunate. My kids also gained the opportunity to serve, be productive, make new friends and have fun. I witnessed many incredible testimonies of ladies who hunger for God coming out of the Dream Center.

While I'm not perfect, being delivered from an abusive relationship has opened doors for God to heal me and continue His work in me. During an assignment, we were asked to find and write down a scripture we were standing on. I came across Psalm 34:18, which states: "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit." Crushed is exactly what I felt but could not put in words.

I was in tears to find an ancient text (The Living Word) that addressed my present-day situation at that time. H-town Dream Center gave me time to regroup, heal, learn about myself and God, and thirst after God — to seek Him and find Him.
